Building toys
Building toys are excellent items for helping a child
to have fun and learn at the same time. Some of the things that building
toys can do for a child include:
• Develop fine motor skills – A child needs to learn about
cause and effect. Building toys are great at helping children learn
about these things. For example, these toys can help a child understand
what happens when something is built incorrectly. If a tower or a building
falls, the child can see what happens if he builds it again in a different
way. A child is able to learn about trial and error by using building
toys.
• Use imagination – Building blocks can help inspire imagination
in a child. What may look like a bunch of building blocks stuck together
to a parent could look much different to a child. In a child’s
imagination, this could be a pirate ship, an amusement park or a backyard
playground.
• Help them turn off the TV – One of the complaints that
some childcare professionals have against television is that it makes
it possible for children to be entertained by turning off their minds.
Building blocks do the opposite. A child can spend hours building and
experimenting with building toys and develop cognitive skills much better
than while watching television.
Building toys are not only good at helping children’s minds expand,
but they are also fun. This means that both adults and children can
be happy about what these toys do for them.
